This is a cultural textbook for international students
studying in China, suitable for learners at the intermediate level of Chinese
proficiency. It consists of 14 units, which respectively introduce the folk
customs and urban characteristics of 14 cities in Guangxi, including Nanning,
Liuzhou, Guilin, Wuzhou, Beihai, Fangchenggang, Qinzhou, Guigang, Yulin, Baise,
Hezhou, Hechi, Laibin and Chongzuo. Each unit includes four main sections, such
as Scenic Spots, Local Specialties, Folk Customs and Cultural Heritage, and is
accompanied by after-class exercises. This textbook aims to help international
students gain an in-depth understanding of the distinctive culture, local
conditions and customs of various cities in Guangxi, expand their knowledge of
Chinese culture, and at the same time improve their Chinese reading ability.
Kou Meirui is the Vice Principal of the Senior High School Department at Guangxi Overseas Chinese School. She has been engaged in international student education and teaching for more than 10 years, and has been awarded titles such as “Excellent Educator”, “Top 10 Teachers”, “Advanced Worker”, and “Top 10 Head Teachers” of the school. She has presided over and participated in 6 scientific research projects at or above the municipal and departmental levels, published 8 academic papers publicly, compiled and co-compiled 4 textbooks, and won more than 30 awards in competitions at or above the provincial level both for her personal achievements and as a mentor to students.
Meng Shu is an international Chinese language teacher and senior lecturer at Guangxi Overseas Chinese School. She has 2 years of overseas Chinese teaching experience, has been deeply engaged in international Chinese language teaching for many years, and has participated in the compilation of multiple textbooks.
