Based on the theoretical framework of constructivism,
this book draws on identity theory and cross-cultural adaptation theory, and
adopts an empirical research method combining qualitative and quantitative
approaches. It sorts out the overall impressions of China held by international
students in China, and explores the topic from seven dimensions, including
education, daily life, people, culture, economy, science and technology, and
international image. The book systematically analyzes the construction
mechanism of China’s image among international students in China, proposes a
theoretical model and a series of theoretical viewpoints for this image
construction, and finally summarizes the optimization paths for international
student education in China, with the goal of actively constructing a positive
image of China.

National image is a crucial component of soft power,
and shaping and presenting a positive image of China is of great significance
for fostering a peaceful and healthy international environment. This book is
pioneering in exploring the construction of China’s image by international
students in China, and using this as an entry point to study international
student education in China. Against the backdrop of the era’s call to “tell
China’s stories well and spread China’s voice well,” understanding the laws
governing the construction of China’s image by international students in China
carries important practical significance.
The book is suitable for scholars and practitioners engaged in the management of international student education in China, international communication, and national image research.
